
Richard Herring was hired by the
Bald Head Island Police department in August 2000. In
June of 2001 he became Lieutenant and
in February 2004 he achieved the position of Chief of Police.
Prior to this
Richard was employed by the Bladen County Sheriff's Department
as a Deputy Sheriff, Investigator and supervisor of the drug
unit. Employment with Bladen County began in January of 1985.
Prior to this, he was employed by the Roseboro Police Department
from November 1983 until May 1984 at which time he worked for
the Garland Police Department until he began his position with
Bladen County. Richard has 22 years experience as a law
enforcement officer.
Richard
obtained his associates degree in Police Science in 1984 from
Bladen Community College and received his advanced law
enforcement certificate in 1997.
