Fire
Control Class & Live Fire Exercise. January 15-19, 2007
A North
Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal, NCOSFM, State
approved Fire
Control Class, sponsored by Brunswick Community College, was
held on Monday, January 15 through Friday, January 19, 2007
on Bald Head Island. The live fire exercises were
held on the afternoon of January 18 and all day on January 19.
The practical sessions were held at #19 Sandspur Trail. The home
was burned to the ground at the end of the day on Friday,
January 19.
The home was graciously
donated by the Whitley's.
The evolutions entailed all
the components of the Incident Command System. Rehab staff
required routine visits to rehab for full vital signs
assessment, including pulse oximetry and carbon monoxide
monitoring. Once in rehab you could not leave until you
were re-hydrated, had food, and all vital signs were within
acceptable limits. The food was so good that many people
would return to rehab sooner than required.
Total training
man hours for the week was 1,879.
