Library Services available for Bald Head Island
Library Service from the Brunswick Country Library System will
be available starting Wednesday, July 2, 2008 and on each
Wednesday that follows throughout the year.
To use this service, each person must have a valid Brunswick
County Library card. The nearest place to receive this is the
Harper Library in downtown Southport. Check the website
http://library.brunsco.net
and then click on “library services” in the upper left hand
corner to see the forms of identification that are accepted as
proof of residency, ownership or work site.
Books and non-book materials may be selected by going to the
website
http://library.brunsco.net and clicking on “online
catalog” in the upper left hand corner. Type in the author,
title or subject you wish to find and the list of materials for
that topic will come up. Make a list of the materials you wish
to check out. On Mondays or Tuesdays starting June 30, call the
Harper Library at 457-6237 and give them your list and your
library card number. If the materials are available they will be
pulled and sent to the island on Wednesday. If the materials are
checked out, they will be put on reserve for you and sent the
next Wednesday that they are available.
Books may be checked out for 3 weeks but non-book materials may
be checked out for only 1 week. The overdue fine for non-book
materials is $1 a day.
Materials should be picked up each Wednesday and returned to the Association Building between
noon and 1pm each Tuesday. New materials will be brought over
on the 2pm ferry and be available for pickup at the Association
Building between 2:45 and 4pm.
The Brunswick Country Library System will not
be proving courier services to the island on Wednesday, December
24th or Thursday December 25th.
